Demi Lovato‘s first single ‘Get Back’ made the Haley, lead singer of the band Paramore, top 12 songs of 2008 list.

“She’s a Disney star, but she tears it down – the girl has pipes!”

Ain’t that the truth! Demi rocks it ever time she hits the stage!

Paramore‘s popularity shot through the roof with two of their songs being featured on the Twilight soundtrack. But lead singer, Hayley Williams was always a fan of the best-selling books. “We’re just thrilled to be a part of it. Our fans were part of our following before we blew up, and I think it means something to them, too. It’s opened a whole new world, and it definitely means a lot for our career. It’s changed a lot.” She told OK Magazine.

Then she was asked, Team Edward of Team Jacob? “I feel good about both of them,” she admits. “On one hand, one is the hero, and on another hand, the other is the hero, but I don’t know. I like both of them at different times.”

As for the soundtrack for New Moon, guitarist Josh Farro says, “We’re not campaigning, but we’d love to be part of it.”

We’ve seen the lists of the best albums of 2008 – but what do the singers like?

“We’re all big fans of Coldplay, and their Viva la Vida is a great record. We got to meet Chris Martin recently, and it was amazing. Also, Adele. She’s nominated for a Grammy against us, but she’s incredible too.”Nick Jonas told MTV. Didn’t Adele recently slam them by saying they weren’t virgins?

Katy Perry couldn’t pick just one, two or three but four different albums she enjoyed, “My favorite album of 2008 would have to be Estelle‘s Shine. She’s one of my favorite artists. Yelle is probably my favorite artist this year. She’s French, and it’s kind of a bit avant-garde, but it’s fun. I loved the Lenka album too. Oh, and the John Legend album! Oh, so good! My favorite song of this year … I like that ‘Come Over’ song Estelle did with Sean Paul.”

Lead singer of Paramore; Hayley Williams revealed a song that’s close to her heart. “There was a song on the new H20 record, called Nothing to Prove, and the song is called ‘Disconnected’ — though that might just be the chorus [Editor’s note: The song is called ‘Static’] — and it really got me through a lot of hard times and gave me energy and confidence. I love that song, and I love that whole record.” While fellow band member Jeremy Davis shared one of his favorites “My favorite was The Alchemy Index by Thrice. They came out with basically four different EPs, and they’re all amazing. Some of my favorite records of all time, to be honest.”

This years list of MTV’s News Women of the Year is loaded with some of our young favorites.

Coming at at # 9 is Paramore’s leading lady, Hayley Williams. No doubt has this year been the year of Paramore. It’s no surprise teen queen Demi Lovato is such a big fan.

At # 7 came Grammy winner Rihanna who stirred up plenty of buzz with her quiet relationship with Chris Brown.

Katy Perry landed at # 5. It’s no surprise seeing as though her song I Kissed A Girl was a smash hit.

Coming in at # 4 was Teen Queen Miley Cyrus who got enough media this year to last her a lifetime!

Country beauty, Taylor Swift, kicked off the top three at # 3. Her relationship with Joe Jonas and # 1 record put her on the map for stars to gossip about.

And finally at # 2 we have Britney Spears. It’s Britney, I really don’t have to explain myself.

Top male and female will be announced tomorrow!
